This is the first ever maramon convention, an annual event that’s held in Vancouver. And as the title suggests, it’s packed with art, and has tons of art. It’s a celebration of all things art. Its not just about art though. Its about all sorts of things, and it doesnt stop there. Its the largest art event in Vancouver, and it is just as packed. Some of the art that Ive seen is quite amazing, and of course, its all around the convention. We got to see a lot of amazing artwork by the amazing artists that we follow on Twitter, as well as meet some new ones, like this guy, who has been following us on Twitter since the beginning.
The art community in Vancouver is extremely large and diverse, and this year its even more diverse than usual. We’ve got artists from Japan, Europe, and the US, as well as the Chinese, the African, and the Middle Eastern communities. Its a convention that is just so beautiful. Some people don’t understand why its called the Maramon Art Convention.
Maramon is a convention. An art con is a gathering, convention, gathering, convention, convention, gathering, gathering. You know, those days when you go to a convention and it’s really just all the artists together talking about art. We have artist friends from all over the world, so its a really diverse convention.
The first week I was there I was blown away by the sheer number of people. It was a lot of fun to just hang out with people I didn’t know. The second week was the same thing as the first week, but there was a little more of a social vibe, which is always fun.
